Our Story

How Dillon Hart Started Hart Homes

Dillon started the company in 2019. The first homes were in subdivisions, a few houses a year. He built them, listed them and sold them.

The company grew slowly and steadily. Today Hart Homes builds more than 20 houses a year.

Along the way, Dillon also helped a good friend who runs a manufactured and modular home dealership. That work put him on the customer side of the table: keeping a home within the buyer's budget, giving them options and making sure it turns out the way they want.

Now Hart Homes is building for homeowners directly too. If you want a new home, you can work with the same builder who has been putting up houses around Burke County since 2019.

What We Believe

Tell people the truth.

If a double-wide fits your budget better than a stick-built home, we will say so. If your lot needs a lot of grading, you will hear it before the contract, not after.

Plan it right the first time.

Dillon has seen builders forget about ductwork, plumbing or electrical runs until the walls are up. Then the homeowner loses a closet or has to extend a wall. Because he holds mechanical, electrical and septic licenses as well as his general contractor license, he plans for those things from the start.

Price is not everything.

People want a builder who knows what he is doing and has done it before. That is what we try to be.

The Team

Our Crew

Hart Homes has four full-time employees and one part-time employee, plus office help.

On every home we build, our crew handles work that is often hired out: land clearing, grading, footers, septic tank installation, final grade and landscaping. Then our team builds the house, with Dillon running the job.

You Work With Dillon From Start to Finish

When you call Hart Homes, you deal with Dillon. He runs the quote meeting, comes out to your property and puts together your price. During the build he manages the schedule for our whole team.

We usually have 10 or 11 homes going at once, so we know how to keep a job moving.

Dillon Hart holds North Carolina General Contractor license #105583. He also holds mechanical, electrical and septic licenses.

Where We Are Headed

We still build some homes to sell, and we are now building for families who come to us directly as well. We are also open to adding detached garages, shops, sheds and carports for our customers, which in some cases can be wrapped into the home loan.
